Mills & Reeve hiring after Manchester corporate team achieves £200m deal milestone

The Manchester office of national law firm Mills & Reeve is expanding its corporate team after advising on deals worth over £200m this year.

The team, which doubled its headcount in the last 18 months to include two partners and five associates, plans to make additional senior appointments to accommodate a growing demand from UK and international clients.

Chris Ross, Manchester-based corporate partner at Mills & Reeve, said his colleagues completed over 20 deals in the year ending May 2017.

Among the transactions were window coverings manufacturer Hunter Douglas’ acquisition of an online blinds retailer; a media and entertainment group’s acquisition of nine music festivals; and the £33m disposal of a major hotel scheme in London’s Docklands area.

Chris commented: “Having significantly increased the size of the team we are really pleased to see a record year of transactions for the Manchester corporate team.

“We are actively recruiting senior corporate lawyers to the team and look forward to an even busier 12 months in the next financial year.”

The Manchester team forms part of a national group that has experienced a record year for corporate deal completions in 2016/17 and climbed higher in Experian’s 2016 M&A market review.

Mills & Reeve currently ranks 7th nationally and 15th in Europe in terms of overall deal numbers.
