New York-inspired rooftop restaurant set to launch at Victoria Gate in Leeds
Restaurant group D&D London is set to launch its newest Leeds restaurant, East 59th.
Opening on Friday, July 14th, the Manhattan-style rooftop bar and grill will take up a 5,400sq ft rooftop space within the £165m Victoria Gate development.
This announcement follows on from the launch of the restaurant group’s third Leeds venue, Issho, which is a rooftop Japanese restaurant and bar located just next door.
East 59th, which is named after the street in New York where D&D’s venue Guastavino’s is located, includes an all-day grill, bar and terrace.
Paul Rogers, senior general manager, said: “Leeds’ nightlife scene is incredibly diverse and we’re excited to add something different to the offering with a New York-inspired rooftop bar and grill.
“East 59th comes hot on the heels of the launch for our stunning Japanese bar and restaurant Issho, and the two distinct venues are unique in their own way, offering something for everyone.”
East 59th’s American-inspired menu comprises US classics, such as a 10oz beef burger, peppered pastrami bagel and Waldorf salad, as well as baby back ribs, steak and lobster from the grill.
Lee Murdoch, executive chef of Crafthouse and Angelica, has created the menu.
He said: “It’s been really fun experimenting with New York classics and giving them an East 59th twist. Guests at East 59th will get a true taste of the New York food scene and we’re sure our cocktails and desserts – including our special sundae – will prove particularly popular.”
