Pokemon Go is up for a Major Revamp

Clearly, the Pokemon Company isn’t sleeping on the rapid-fire success of Pokemon Go. The superstardom kept the company busy with bugs, allegations, security concerns, and frequent updates. With 750 million global downloads, it’s obvious for the company to expect action-packed days and night. On a brighter note, the company celebrated its one-year anniversary in the grandest way possible. Niantic dropped some bombs at the event about the updates that one could expect in the near future. Often blamed by critics for not bringing about major or frequent updates, Pokemon Go seems ready to show the middle finger to all the critics and haters. Here are some updates that one could expect down the road.

Multiplayer Raid BattleThe much-awaited ‘Raid Battle’ feature will be added in Pokemon Go. This feature is a crucial one as it enables a user to team up with other players to simultaneously fight other stronger Pokemon at Gyms. As much as 20 players can participate in a Raid. So, it will be a full-fledged and fun-filled battle of a lifetime. Players who frequently participate and succeed in Raids will be allowed to take part in exclusive Raids, which can help one catch legendary Pokemon. So, don’t be surprised if you were told that you will be able to capture legendary creatures in the coming weeks. Niantic commented that this feature will roll out soon, which is a pretty exciting news for millions of fans out there.

Redesigned GymsGyms are also expected to see a major revamp. They started shutting down the existing gyms across the Pokemon Go universe to make way for a fresh reopening. The new Gyms will have a unique spinning photo disc, which will provide players new items on the push of a button or upon spinning the disc. Other changes include distribution of Gym Badges that will not only serve as mementos but will also help one earn more rewards and bonus items on a gym visit. The new Gym will also include six permanent defender Pokemon slots that will be filled by the controlling team. So, instead of battling Pokemon based on strength, players will be able to fight Pokemon in the assigned order in the slot.

New AdditionThe new update will also feature a new element called ‘motivation.’ Pokemon who are left in the gym will lose their ‘motivation’ over a period of time, making them vulnerable to attack. Basically, unattended Pokemon will lose their Combat Power (CP). When motivation falls to zero, it becomes easier for the opponent to defeat a Pokemon. This will allow players to battle more commanding teams. However, team players have the ability to raise motivation. Any Pokemon left in the gym should be visited periodically and fed berries by you or the players of the same team to keep its motivation up. Niantic states the new Gym and the additional features will be made available to the players pretty soon.
