City centre pasta bar and Italian eatery creates six new jobs in Newcastle
A new pasta joint has opened its doors in Newcastle city centre and has created six new jobs in the process.
Zucchini Pasta Bar has agreed to take a ten year lease at 55 Degrees North for a 1,900 sq ft ground floor unit formerly occupied by City Retreat.
The new restaurant, which sits on a prominent corner position on the former Swan House roundabout, sits next door to Asian restaurant Fat Buddha and will serve up fresh hand-rolled pasta dishes, alongside imported Italian produce and locally sourced ingredients.
Barker commented: “I’ve been planning Zucchini for a few years and believe there is a market for restaurant quality food during office lunch times, but with great value.
“Zucchini is the first fresh pasta bar in Newcastle, which sets it apart from other Italian eateries. All of our golden signature fresh egg pasta is handmade and hand-rolled on site with locally sourced eggs and Italian imported pasta flour
“We stick to traditional practises of fresh pasta making, which in turn enables us to provide a cheaper and higher quality plate of pasta for the customer.”
The deal for the unit was brokered by the retail agency team at Naylors, who also manage the 55 Degrees North development on behalf of owners Buccleuch Property.
James Fletcher, commercial agency surveyor at the firm said: “The Zucchini Pasta Bar concept is something new and exciting and we are confident it will be a great addition to the area.
“The position of the unit is highly visible for trade with office workers passing by on their way to and from work.
“We are currently experiencing a high level of demand for retail and leisure premises and we are looking to secure further instructions to accommodate enquiries.”
