Green light for a thousand new homes in west Witney
Developers have legally completed on the acquisition of a site in west Witney, Oxfordshire to build a thousand new homes.
The plans, which include designs for a primary school, a local centre and 25 acres of employment, will be delivered by Bloor Homes, Bovis Homes and Persimmon Homes.
A mix of two to five-bedroom homes will be made available including a selection of affordable homes. Construction on the site to be known as Windrush Place will start later this year.
Richard Briggs, managing director for Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “We are delighted with this decision, which will bring much-needed homes to the area.
“The site already benefits from outline planning permission and forms part of west Oxfordshire’s local plan for housing in the district. We want to create a vibrant community that best suits the future needs of Witney, while being sympathetic to the surrounding area.”
Windrush Place is designed to respect and reflect the character of the local area and the plans have been developed in collaboration with the local community and other stakeholders.
The consortium of developers have also earmarked over £10.8m under a Section 106 agreement for affordable housing, transport and infrastructure, education and community contributions.
