New role for Datatrial's Dan Morley

A GROWING software company is expanding its team in preparation for an increase in business.

Dan Morley, 22, of Fawdon, has joined software development company Datatrial as the first Technical Support Consultant in a newly created team.

Datatrial CEO Dr Emma Banks said she was pleased to welcome Dan to the team: “We’re implementing our expansion strategy and a large part of that is creating a new technical support team to support our current and future software solutions. Dan is the first member of that team and we’re delighted to have him with us.

“We take recruitment really seriously. We’re not a huge team so it’s important to us that we bring people into the company that have the right skills and the right attitude, and that they can fit into the Datatrial office environment.”

Dan, originally from North Shields, studied a two-year, Level 3 BTEC in games development at Newcastle College before completing an IT apprenticeship at an Ouseburn company. Dan went on to work for three other IT companies before being recruited to Datatrial.

In his new role, Dan will be offering customers advice and support for Datatrial’s nowEDC software which supports global development programmes by managing the collection, reporting and storage of data from clinical trials. Dan will also be responsible for the technical support for yet to be released packages that Datatrial is currently developing.

“It’s an exciting role and because it’s new I’ve been able to help shape it,” said Dan. “It’s certainly interesting, with so much going on at Datatrial at the moment. There’s a lot of development work and testing work too.

“The plan is to expand the support function in line with the launches of new Datatrial products in the months ahead.

“It’s a growing, ambitious company, but it’s also very supportive and friendly. There’s a great social aspect that I’ve been enjoying since joining the team,” he added.

Datatrial was founded in 1999 to develop software to improve the clinical research process. Soon after, the company successfully expanded its offering with services geared toward helping customers run clinical trials more efficiently and more cost effectively.

Earlier this year Datatrial sold its data service division to a US-based company, allowing it to focus on software development and new products.
