Handling a child is not easy and so is child photography. Capturing the best photoshot is the toughest not because it is hard for them to pose or ask them to pose but because these tiny models are at their best when they are candid. And candid shots are when they are for real in front of you. People who don’t have any experience with child are busy making their career in child photography just for petty sum. But you be aware of such photographers who won’t give you desired results as they are inexperienced. Here we are sharing few tips from those photographers, who are excellent child photographers and have years of experience-

  1. Let you subject develop. Make them feel comfortable, breezy and natural. Give them some entertainment so that they can embrace the environment and you can capture some candid pictures of your subject. The more you pursue them, they will get pressurised and will get worn off by the end of the shoot. Hence, let them enjoy their time while you do your job. You can hand them over few props and let them get involved into it.
  2. If you are not shooting at home, choose a location which is calm and familiar. It should have lot of space so that the child can move around and have fun in the setting. Also keep in mind the background, lighting and consistency without any distractions. You can even use a white wall to make your subject stand out as these walls work as reflectors or use shadows to add depth.
  3. Remember, every child is different and have different kind of wavelength. Try to match with it. Also, don’t forget them to give them breaks from prolonged shoot. A child of up to 4 years of age can last up to four hours without break. Sense them, as soon as they are about to give up, give them some time to relax and let them regain their energy.
  4. Plan in advance. While your schedule for the photography session is usually fixed, if not, pre fix your appointment with a good Long Island Child Photographer. As you prepare for the shoot, do your homework beforehand. Finalising the set, props, location and poses. This will save your time and will help you to act swiftly during the shoot.
  5. Your gadget will play the biggest role while you are shooting the subject. Choose the right kind of lens that can capture the depth, shadows and emotions at a minute level. You can also ask him about his past experience with the kids and take a look at his previous shots.
