Are Freelancers Struggling After Brexit?
Studies have revealed that after Brexit, two thirds of the freelancer work population have concerns with the economy and how this is going to impact the amount of work they receive on a rolling monthly basis. 69% of freelancers predict that there is going to be a massive slowdown in the economy within the upcoming years.
The Association of Independent Professionals and the Self Employed have made suggestions that there has been a sharp decline in confidence for the freelance market and for the economy. This is due to the political instabilities and uncertainties that 2016 and 2017 have brought, leaving the value of the pound, importation dilemmas and other remaining factors.
Brexit and the governmental policy has been the reason behind a lack in confidence in the freelancer market, more people leaning towards the stability that a permanent position in employment can bring. There has been a particular lean towards people seeking media insurance in their freelancer market, as this is the most unstable and unpredictable market to be involved in. People are looking to take precaution and protect their income when they are taking new freelancer positions, which again can be attributed to the uncertainty and the impending nature of the market.
Other factors, such as regulatory taxation and constraints as the main factors behind this new precautionary stance on the freelance market and this is expected to continue to grow as people see the benefit of protecting their assets and protecting themselves as the economy begins to face further turbulence in the freelance market.
