Five new big-name brands announced for £100m Liverpool Shopping Park scheme
Five more high street brands have been announced for the multi-million pound Liverpool Shopping Park development.
Fashion retailer River Island has signed up for 6,559 sq ft at the £100m scheme, while discount chain TK Maxx will take 10,000 sq ft and toy company Smyths Toys 14,996 sq ft.
Joining them is fast-food chain Subway, which will occupy a 1,300 sq ft unit, and a yet-to-be-revealed high street fashion retailer taking 13,049 sq ft.
The latest raft of deals follows agreements signed with Outfit, JD Sports, M&S Food Hall and Boots, as well as leisure operators Hollywood Bowl, Chiquito and Frankie & Benny’s.
River Island, TK Maxx, Smyths Toys and the undisclosed fashion retailer will be located in the development’s Western Quarter – a horseshoe-shaped row of 17 units fronting onto Edge Lane.
Subway will occupy space at the park’s entrance, near the new Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito restaurants.
James Maule-Ffinch, senior asset manager at The Derwent Group, the company behind the scheme, said: “We’ve always wanted Liverpool Shopping Park to have a strong focus on lifestyle and fashion and that is starting to come to bear with our latest signings.
“We’re in final negotiations with a number of other retailers and we’ll be excited to announce those in due course.”
Amy Matthews, of Smyths Toys, commented: ‘Liverpool Shopping Park is really breathing new life into this part of the city and we’re thrilled to be part of that as we extend our footprint in Merseyside.“
Derwent Group chief exec David Lyons said: “The Derwent Group is part of a charitable foundation which means that 50% of our profits go to charity. For every £100 that Liverpool Shopping Park tenants pay in rent, £42 will go directly to good causes and we expect many of those to be here in Merseyside.”
Liverpool Shopping Park will total 727,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, making it one of the UK’s largest shopping destinations when it opens this October.
The scheme is designed by AEW Architects. McMullen Wilson, Petch & Co and CSP Curson Sowerby are the site’s acting retail and leisure agents.
