Exceptional Results for Abbey College Manchester’s International Students

Abbey College Manchester is celebrating an incredible 100% pass rate in five out of six International Foundation Programme (IFP) Pathways.

Students passed the Medicine, Engineering, Science, Creative Arts and Humanities Pathways with flying colours, while the Business Pathway also had a fantastic result with a 98% pass rate. The average score across all the IFP Pathways was 72%.

The courses which are accredited by the NCFE (Northern Council for Further Education) are designed to give students a thorough grounding in the key concepts and theories they will meet during their undergraduate studies.

These full-time courses run for either one year, 18 months or two years and prepare international students for direct entry onto various degree courses at most British universities. These include: Manchester, University College London, Aston, Queen Mary, Bristol, Bath, Sheffield, Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham, York, Southampton and Salford.

Student Negar Sharafi, (18), is one of the celebrating students after passing the Medicine pathway with an 82% and accepting a place at the University of Central Lancashire to study Medicine. Xianglin Zheng, (18), also passed the Engineering Pathway with an amazing 92% and will study Civil Engineering at the University of Bath from September whilst Yitong Liu, (17), will be studying Management at the University of Manchester after she received an excellent score of 90% from the Business and Mathematics Pathway.

Principal at Abbey College Manchester, Liz Elam commented: “With over 50 students on the IFP programme, this outcome is superb. The students have worked incredibly hard and have proven that these courses are effective. Sometimes, A-Levels are not suited to the learning styles or strengths of international students so the International Foundation Programme pathways give them another option to maximise their chances of achieving places at highly ranked universities. They have done a great job and we wish them all the best in the future.”

Abbey College is a leading independent college in the heart of Manchester, with a fast-growing and vibrant community.
