Feeling hot, hot, hot: The Funky Iron Company launches next funding round on Seedrs

A new startup, The Funky Iron Company, has launched its second round of funding on Europe’s huge crowdfunding platform Seedrs.

The company’s Round 1 funding was successful and became overfunded in March 2017, totalling 138 per cent. This new round will see the company open its doors to both new and existing investors.

For this round, the company is hoping to make £150k, and just three days into the new campaign, more than £32k has been raised via Seedrs.

The founders, Sadie and Joe Sillett, commented: “Our Eureka moment came when realising that, of all of the main household goods in the market, the iron was a product crying out to be redesigned.

“The category challenged with style and colour [too]. So far it has been a great journey, we are looking forward to welcoming new investors on board.”

The duo plans to ‘disrupt the electric steam iron market’ by creating a product with style and individuality through product design, functionality and customer experience.

The startup will intend to sell directly to consumers via its website, and plans to launch its debut range in February 2018. It is currently in talks with both online and traditional retail partners.

Based in London, the business is holding an event tonight (September 13) at Metro Bank in Holborn from 6.30pm to help secure more investment. The company has a valuation of over £1m.
