Chemical company in search for chemistry apprentice

A Cross Hills chemical company is offering the opportunity of a lifetime for a young scientist in-the-making with an apprenticeship place at its dye laboratory.

Airedale Chemical has signed up to the government’s apprenticeship scheme which aims to deliver a new generation of apprentices with the skills and expertise needed in industry.

The chemical manufacturer is now looking for a dye lab apprentice to join its team of experts and take their first steps into the world of chemistry.

Finance director at Airedale Chemical, Craig Thomson, explains: “We’re looking for an ambitious and passionate candidate who wants to start their career at a company steeped in experience and expertise.

“We believe this scheme will be invaluable to the future of the company and is an amazing opportunity for the successful applicant to make a flying start to their scientific career with a permanent position in our lab. We’re planning to rollout more apprenticeship initiatives in the future across other departments, providing a renewed range of skill sets throughout the business. This is also a fantastic opportunity to for us to create more local jobs.”

The ideal apprentice will be a motivated post-A level student with excellent grades in chemistry and mathematics, a keen eye for design and an interest in dye science.

Craig added: “This company was founded on dye chemicals more than 40 years ago so the successful candidate would benefit from our heritage and decades of experience, learning highly-useful skills ‘on the job’.”

The scheme is supported by the Airedale Foundation, Airedale Chemical’s charitable arm which so far this year has funded a new education partnership, a community defibrillator and sponsorship of several local sporting associations.

Airedale Chemical was established in 1973 and provides chemicals and contract manufacturing to markets including agriculture, dairy, water treatment and waste management.
