Housebuilders set to provide new homes, jobs and community benefits in Exeter

More than 650 jobs are set to be supported in the Exeter area as Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes begin work on new homes on the outskirts of the city. The Minerva development will see Barratt Homes create 159 new homes with David Wilson Homes committed to providing 63 new homes to meet rising demand for new homes in Devon. The development has been named after the Roman Goddess of poetry, medicine, wisdom and commerce and links with the development’s close proximity to the Exeter Science Park.

In addition to providing new homes and jobs the five star housebuilders will be providing a significant economic boost to the local area in terms of jobs and improvements to local facilities. These improvements are set to include a 15 acre country park for everyone to enjoy together with contributions towards improved public transport, the Tithebarn Link Road, education provision and transport. “We are committed to creating communities where people want to live and this new development will also help us make a significant contribution to the local area,” said sales director Sara Parker. “We know that those who move to our developments are likely to spend the money they earn in local shops and on nearby services, so it’s not only the jobs market here that will see the positive effects of these new homes.” Minerva is due to launch later this year with Barratt Homes offering a range of two three and four bedroom homes and David Wilson Homes building three, four and five bedroom homes. “We’re delighted the introduction of our new developments will have a positive impact on the local communities here,” added Sara. “Not only does it mean an increase in the number of much-needed homes, the local economy is benefitting too. “Demand for properties in this location is understandably very high and we are looking forward to playing our part in bringing new homes to people in Exeter.

“It’s important to us that this new development has housing for a wide range of buyers so the various homes will feature different layouts to suit the varied lifestyles of sole occupants, couples and families and we are looking forward to building both Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes at this development.”
