Bond Dickinson launches 'Lunchbox Learning' in aid of The Prince's Trust

National law firm Bond Dickinson and national charity The Prince’s Trust have teamed up to host ‘Lunchbox Learning’ sessions to support young entrepreneurs.

Piloted in Bristol, the aim of the initiative is to deliver insightful and tailored workshops to support small and emerging businesses in understanding key legal issues, ensuring they are well equipped to respond to the challenges they will be faced with as business leaders.

The first session took place last week at Bond Dickinson’s Bristol office and was moderated by Associate Laura Coombes who provided advice and guidance around data protection, the change in legislation with the introduction of the GDPR and why this is relevant to businesses. Around eight entrepreneurs attended the session and others workshops have already been scheduled over the next couple of months around leases and contract clauses.

Ewen Macgregor, Legal Director and Head of CSR in Bond Dickinson’s Bristol office said: “Starting a business from a scratch is undoubtedly a very long and stressful process, especially when it comes to understanding and applying the law. We’re delighted to be able to support The Prince’s Trust and their young entrepreneurs through these lunchbox learning workshops which provide tailored and clear legal guidance in a relaxed and friendly environment. The themes of each session have been chosen by the entrepreneurs to ensure that the advice we provide is relevant and applicable to their business. We recognise that fund raising is not always the main focus to support charities. As business professionals, we have an important skill set which we want to share with young people and entrepreneurs to help them progress and succeed.”

Jason Stone from The Prince’s Trust added: “This workshop enabled our young people to gain valuable and up-to-date knowledge regarding Data Protection and this is just one of many ways Bond Dickinson is able to give something back to The Prince’s Trust to support our young people. Passionate, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and approachable are just a number of words to describe staff at Bond Dickinson. Huge thanks to the team for putting together the workshop.”

Bond Dickinson has been supporting The Prince’s Trust since May 2013. Bond Dickinson is also heavily involved in a comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility programme, supporting a number of charities across its eight offices including St Peter’s Hospice, Jeremiah’s Journey, Southampton Sholing Salvation Army, Greenwich Legal Advice Centre, Percy Hedley and CLAN to name a few.

Bond Dickinson provides legal services across a range of sectors including financial institutions, insurance, retail, energy, transport, manufacturing, real estate, and private wealth.
