Systal reaping the rewards of investing in apprenticeships

Enterprise IT specialist Systal Technology Solutions is seeing its investment in apprenticeships pay off, having promoted seven former apprentices to full time engineering positions.

The Glasgow headquartered company, which specialises in IT services for large organisations - including some of the country’s leading energy providers and mobile phone operators – now has another four apprentices currently training with them, who they hope will progress similarly to become 2nd line IT engineers.

Systal, which has a UK- based network operations centre providing round-the-clock support for the IT infrastructures of major organisations is also set to continue its successful graduate programme.

The scheme provides IT graduates with the chance to develop their careers alongside experienced network engineers and is designed to give participants a broad exposure to a range of managed IT services.

Suzanne Nichol, Network Operations Centre Manager at Systal, said: “The past 12 months have been an exciting time for the business and we are delighted to see so many apprentices progressing into permanent roles.
“As our business continues to grow, it is important that we are able to provide our customers with the necessary skills and resources they need to manage their IT infrastructure effectively. Continued investment in staff skills and training is going to be critical to our success and we are pleased to be investing in the IT engineers of the future.”

Campbell Anderson, a networking level six apprentice currently working at Systal, said: “I’d definitely recommend doing an apprenticeship. Being an apprentice has given me some fantastic qualifications, some fantastic experience and the chance to meet some fantastic people.”
