Hotel operator checks in to purchase The Rutland Hotel in Sheffield

Ellerslie (International) Ltd, the international hotel operator, has acquired The Rutland Hotel in Sheffield.

The four-star hotel is located off Broomfield Road in the university area of Sheffield and provides 63 en suite bedrooms, alongside food and beverage facilities.

Colliers International secured the sale of the hotel, which has been marketed openly at an asking price of £2.65m.

Ellerslie, which acquired the hotel from Claypenny Hotels Limited, currently owns and operates the Discovery Inn in Leeds city centre.

Peter Bean, director, hotels agency, Colliers International in Leeds, said: “The Rutland Hotel not only benefits from the huge amount of commercial and leisure activity generated in the dynamic Sheffield city region, but it is also the main hotel in this tremendously busy university area of the city, so as such it supports a consistently strong bedroom-led trade.

“The facilities on offer at the hotel represent an exciting business development opportunity for the new buyers, who will no doubt bring their expertise and experience from running the highly successful Discovery Inn in Leeds to the fore when deciding how to take The Rutland forward.”
