This week's Yorkshire appointments

Town Centre Securities (TCS), the Leeds and London based property and investment development company, has expanded its marketing function, recruiting three new people to the team.

James Broughton has been appointed as head of marketing and PR for TCS after undertaking the role of marketing manager at the Merrion Centre for the last 12 months.

James will now be also responsible for devising and implementing marketing activity to support the overall TCS business.

James has more than 10 years’ senior marketing experience and has held roles at Leeds Bradford Airport as well as running his own marketing consultancy firm.

Supporting James in his new role will be Jessica Coates, who has taken up the position of marketing co-ordinator for the Merrion Centre, TCS’ largest single asset.

Jessica will now be working with James on the marketing and PR strategy for the Merrion Centre and its Arena Quarter. Previously, Jessica has held positions at Savvy marketing and Network Marketing.

Elle Macleod has also joined the team as marketing executive for TCS. Elle’s role will be to support the implementation and managing of campaigns, both on and off line, for TCS across the large range of other assets.

Kanika Sohpal and Alice Leslie are the latest lawyers to join Clarion’s private client practice in Leeds.

Kanika takes up the position of legal director with Clarion, having spent 13 years in the private client team at Armitage Sykes and another year with Schofield Sweeney following its merger with the firm.

A member of STEP (the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), Kanika has particular expertise in dealing with complex cases and high net worth individuals.

Her experience includes advising on a wide range of matters including estate planning; inheritance tax mitigation; the creation and administration of trusts; powers of attorney and the administration of estates, including those with foreign property.

Clarion has also appointed Alice Leslie as an associate solicitor in the private client team. She joins from Gordons LLP where she spent two years working in the private client practice after completing her training contract with the firm.

In her new role, Alice will assist in drafting Wills, dealing with the drafting, registration and administration of Lasting Powers of Attorney, and assisting with advising high net worth individuals about their Wills and estate planning. Alice also works on the administration of estates and Court of Protection matters.

Yorkshire-based One Stop Business Finance Ltd has expanded its team by recruiting three business development managers.

Max Chapman, Rachel Mackenzie and Victoria Shepherd have been recruited to the new roles and will cover the Midlands, the North East, Yorkshire and the North West respectively.

The business is an accredited broker and has a number of preferred partners in respect of hire purchase lending, invoice finance and commercial property.

Lorna Blackett, NatWest

NatWest has appointed Lorna Blackett as the new entrepreneur development manager supporting Leeds and Yorkshire.

In her new role, Lorna will be supporting entrepreneurs around the region as they embark on achieving their business aspirations while also creating a ‘centre for enterprise excellence’ at the Entrepreneurial Spark Powered By NatWest hub.

Her role will involve developing relationships within the Leeds-business network and developing new contacts across the region to support the enterprise ecosystem.

With more than 20 years in financial services, Lorna has most recently worked as a business growth enabler at NatWest supporting business development, business growth and business connectivity across the Leeds and West Yorkshire region.

Lorna is also an accredited woman in business and an ambassador for women in business across West Yorkshire.

She said: “I’m really excited about new role as an Entrepreneurial Development Manager and welcome the opportunity to help build the enterprise community in Leeds. Our partnership with Entrepreneurial Spark has been a tremendous success.

Caroline Neadley, Rollits

Rollits, the Yorkshire commercial law firm, has appointed employment law specialist Caroline Neadley to its existing team of employment law experts.

Solicitor Caroline joins Rollits from Humberside Police and brings with her over 15 years’ experience in both the public and private sector.

She will use her expertise to advise business clients on employment legislation, tribunal claims and advocacy, and provide training to help them manage a multitude of legal issues in the workplace.

As a result of Caroline’s appointment, Rollits – which has offices in Hull and York – now has the largest team of qualified employment lawyers in East Yorkshire, with 40 years’ experience between them.

Ed Jenneson, head of Rollits’ employment team, commented: “To recruit someone of Caroline’s calibre is a real coup for Rollits and will certainly strengthen our credentials in the field of employment law.

Caroline graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with law degree in 2001, before attending the College of Law, in York, to study her Legal Practice Course.

In 2002, she started her career as a trainee solicitor at another local law firm, where she spent 11 years and, immediately upon qualification in 2004 Caroline embarked upon her specialism in employment law.

In her most recent role as an employment law specialist within Humberside Police’s legal department, Caroline advised chief constables and acted as Deputy Force Solicitor.

She formed part of a 10-strong team of employment lawyers covering the Humber region and South Yorkshire, following the force’s collaboration with South Yorkshire Police.

Mark Daley, thebigword

thebigword has promoted Mark Daley to the role of global operations director and board member.

Mr Daley joined the language services provider as head of translation operations in August 2014.

He has since taken responsibility for the group’s global translation, interpreting and human resource teams as operations director.

Mr Daley played a key role in the implementation of the £120m Ministry of Justice contract, which added 40% to group revenues. He also helped to increase profit margins, improve operational efficiencies, roll-out new technologies, reduce staff turnover and develop the careers of his colleagues.

Future Life Wealth Management, Emma Baumback

Sheffield-based Future Life Wealth Management has expanded its team with the appointment of a new paraplanner.

Emma Baumback joins Future Life Wealth Management from Grant Thornton UK LLP in Sheffield.

In her new role, Emma will be responsible for the research and preparation of advice and suitability reports.

Emma is also studying towards a diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, before hoping to complete an advanced diploma in the same subject to achieve Chartered Financial Planner status.

Based in Renishaw, Future Life Wealth Management offers a bespoke financial planning service to generators of wealth, typically business owners, executives and professionals, and also to receivers of wealth, such as inheritors, divorcees, widows and retirees.

The latest appointment takes Future Life to nine members of staff, as it looks to expand its services across the region.

Jillian Thomas, the firm’s managing director, who is also past president of Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, said: “We’re always looking to grow and develop as a company, and our latest appointment is a great example of that.

Sam Richardson, CBRE

CBRE in Leeds has appointed Sam Richardson as a graduate surveyor to strengthen its growing valuation team.

Sam joined CBRE’s Leeds division in September 2017 on the property firm’s graduate training scheme following completion of a Masters degree in Real Estate from Sheffield Hallam University.

Prior to this, Sam completed a BA Honours degree in Geography and Planning, at Newcastle University.

Sam also brings some planning experience, having spent more than a year as a full time planner with DLP Planning Ltd.

CBRE’s Valuation team is headed up by senior director, Michael Porter and as part of his new role, Sam will work closely with Mike Jones, Danny Latimer, Michael Goodwin, Lloyd Nicholson, Alison Wright, Jamie Gellert and the team on a number of projects across the industrial, retail and office sectors.

Lewis Georgiou, Marketing Optimist

Marketing Optimist, the Leeds-based digital marketing consultancy, has added marketing specialist Lewis Georgiou to its team.

The business, which is part of Entrepreneurial Spark, was launched in 2016.

Richard Michie, founder and CEO, said: “In the last 18 months we’ve helped over 70 businesses make their marketing more effective, ensuring digital campaigns deliver results rather than just followers and likes.

Manfredi Di Cintio, The Floow

Manfredi Di Cintio has joined Sheffield-based telematics business The Floow, as business development director for the EMEA region.

Di Cintio brings more than 15 years of European sales and business development experience to his role, having worked with software and intelligence providers like Bloomberg New Energy Finance and CEB (now part of Gartner).

Di Cintio said: “Telematics is a key area that’s helping to enable the digital transformation of the insurance, fleet and motor manufacturing industries.

“I see massive opportunities to help our customers innovate and deliver smarter and safer mobility for everyone.

“I’m excited by the opportunity to position The Floow’s unique capabilities and insights in software, data science and driver behaviour to customers in the region,” commented Di Cintio.

David James, chief operating officer of The Floow, added: “Manfredi has some great experience of building and growing innovative technology companies across Europe.
