A former senior bank director who supported thousands of growing businesses during a 30-year banking career will pass on the secrets for success as the new North West director of a national mentoring and coaching consultancy.
Paul Clarke has joined the board of UK Business Mentoring (UKBM) to lead the consultancy’s work in the North West region supporting ambitious entrepreneurs, directors and business owners.

Originally from Salford and now living in Bury, Mr Clarke worked across the North West region and North Wales for Royal Bank of Scotland and Future Williams & Glyn before joining UKBM.
He said: “It was a great privilege to support so many customers during my banking career and I am now excited to be able to share the benefits of my experience with ambitious North West business owners.
“The free UK Business Mentoring seminar that I will be hosting for North West entrepreneurs will provide an insight into the key ingredients for business growth. The UKBM approach has been tremendously successful in the south of England and I am delighted to be leading their activities in the North West.”
UKBM typically supports owner-managed businesses with turnover of between £1m and £25m seeking significant growth. It provides strategic assistance and support in restructuring businesses in preparation for a sale.

Services offered by UKBM include business reviews, strategic planning, mentoring and coaching. Mr Clarke will also lead the development of UKBM’s associates programme in the North West. UKBM is expanding is network of Associate Mentors across the country.
Mr Clarke, 49, added: “We are looking for driven, motivated people with a passion for helping others achieve their goals. The key requirements are that they have a good commercial background, relationship management skills and experience in managing people. It is also important that they are excellent communicators. I’d love to talk to people who are interested in joining UKBM.”
Mr Clarke started his career in banking with NatWest and served in a number of senior positions with RBS Group, with responsibility for 68 retail branches and circa 500 staff.
Most recently he served as Head of Retail Signatures and as Regional Retail Director for North West England & North Wales at Future Williams & Glyn until leaving the bank in summer 2017. At Future Williams & Glyn he was responsible for running 80 branches with circa 550 staff.
Headquartered in Walton on the Hill, Surrey, UK Business Mentoring was founded by Managing Director Joe Hinton in 2009 to offer mentoring, training and strategic guidance to business executives.
UKBM has been shortlisted in the Business Change or Transformation category at UK Business Awards 2017. The winner will be announced in a ceremony at Wembley Stadium on 22 November.
Mr Hinton said: “Paul has an excellent track record in supporting business customers and I am delighted that he has agreed to join us as UK Business Mentoring’s North West regional director.
“With his network of business contacts and extensive experience in the North West region, he will be a real asset for us. I would urge anyone who feels that they would benefit from a free initial training seminar – or would like to join UKBM as an Associate – to get in touch.”
