New appointments strengthen technology team

AN AWARD-WINNING North East technology company has strengthened its team with a trio of key appointments, including one of the region’s leading IT experts.

Steve Tron has joined Gateshead-based Aspire Technology Solutions as its Chief Technical Architect, bringing with him more than 35 years’ experience in the industry.

Steve, born in Singapore but now living in Darlington, started life as a developer, creating database applications for a number of NHS Trusts before shifting to a role which saw him deliver a number of large scale projects, including the merger of two large NHS IT systems.

Formerly with KnowledgeIT and then Onyx, he has worked on projects for organisations such as the Freeman Hospital and Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue before moving into a more strategic, development role.

A Fellow of the British Computer Society, a chartered engineer and a chartered IT professional, he holds a number of degrees in technology and business management.

“I am really pleased to have joined Aspire and be able to play an integral part in a company which is growing at such an impressive pace,” said Steve.

“It is also giving me the opportunity to recapture the excitement and enthusiasm that I enjoyed so much in the earlier years of my career.”

Chris Fraser, Managing Director at Aspire Technology Solutions, said it was a huge coup for the company to have Steve on board.

“We’ve been working to get Steve to join the Aspire team for a number of years,” he said.

“Talents such as his rarely become available anywhere in the UK. His addition will add further breadth and depth to our technical departments.

“His experience with public and private cloud technologies is second to none, we’re all hugely excited, as this will develop our services beyond anything available elsewhere in the area.”

Steve is one of a number of recent appointments at the award-winning company, which now employs 150 staff, working across a range of sectors including business, education, sport, law and entertainment.

Also new to Aspire is Catherine Hibbert, who has taken up the role of Head of Services Management, with 18 years of experience in the IT industry.

“What appealed to me most about joining the team at Aspire is that they genuinely do believe in the importance of delivering exceptional service and have recognised the vital significance of investing in this area,” she said.

“This is a customer focused role, which sits outside of the existing commercial and operational arms of the business. As such, it is very much centred around ensuring that our services are aligned to our clients’ business requirements at a strategic level so as to ensure they provide real value.”

The company has also recently welcomed Adam Hall, who has taken up the position of Head of Delivery, having worked in the industry for more than 30 years.

Adam, from Durham, has played key roles in a number of leading IT companies including Croft Technology, ITPS and Perfect Image IT Solutions before joining Aspire.

Aspire Technology Solutions provides a range of managed services, specialising in hosted services, data centre solutions, communication and traditional IT support.
