Newcastle Startup Advice Day to shine light on available support for new businesses

Business development organisations Generator and Digital Union will co-host a Start-Up Advice Day in Newcastle next month, highlighting the available support which exists in the city to help new companies find their feet.

The full day event, which will take place at Newcastle City Library, will start at 10am and finish at 6pm on Friday December 8.

The day will include interactive workshops from the likes of Blu Sky Tax, Sunderland social media outfit The Office Rocks, business support organisation Future Skills Vision and Newcastle PR company JAC Media.

The Day will also feature a mix of panel talks and workshops, covering everything from essential finance advice and leadership to online promotion.

Emma Whitenstall, Generator’s Head of Business Support, commented: “Everyone knows how hard it is to start a business but not everyone is aware of just how much support and advice there is out there from industry experts.

“Generator and Digital Union are committed to helping businesses grow from an idea to their full potential, from “garage to global”.

“This event is open to anyone who has a business idea or has recently started a business and needs some advice.

“We will have experts on hand who can advise about everything from funding and accounting to PR and marketing. There will also be specific advice for creative and digital businesses from our Digital Union members.”

Rachel Peacock, Digital Union Networks Manager, added: “With a lot of focus currently on supporting scale-ups, we really want to ensure that the startup community is aware of the ongoing support available in the region from organisations such as ourselves.

“We are committed to fostering a collaborative community in the creative and digital sector offering support and expertise to new businesses, through this event and other initiatives.”
