Hexham shines bright this Christmas
A NORTH EAST town is shining a light on the festive season, with a unique seasonal trail.
Hexham BID, which was set up to help boost the town’s economy, is putting an unusual twist on Christmas, which it hopes will not only encourage residents to shop local but will also bring visitors into the area.
The BID has organised a series of festive projections which will illuminate key buildings across the town centre, helping to create a really festive atmosphere.
Everything from Santa to snowflakes will be seen across Hexham’s Moot Hall and Old Gaol, Marston Surveyors at Hencotes, Tynedale Hospice’s shop at Battle Hill Place, Molly Moo’s Coffee Shop and Ice Cream Parlour at Hallstile Bank and at Hexham’s historic Marketplace at number 25-26.
Helen Grayshan, manager at Hexham BID, believes the projections will bring a real boost to the town.
“We hope that in bringing the light projections to Hexham this Christmas, we can not only make the town feel more festive, but that they will also increase the footfall and see both visitors and local people come out in force to see them.”
The projections will begin on 24 November and will continue until the New Year.
Hexham BID was launched in October 2016 to help drive business into the town centre and boost the economy through various initiatives, with the aim of improving the overall trading conditions for local businesses.
The BID also recently introduced a proposed scheme to help improve signage and signposting around the centre.
