Northallerton company ‘builds’ on its success

A husband and wife building company is celebrating its first successful year by announcing expansion plans.

Rob Talbot, from Northallerton, has worked in the building sector for more than 30 years across the North East and Yorkshire and launched HRT Building Solutions last year with his wife, Sarah-Louise.

The couple established the business due to a surge in demand for a range of residential building services- such as double storey extensions, renovations and refurbishments and garage and loft conversions- across the North Yorkshire region as people look to improve their homes rather than move.

Thanks to a better than predicted first year in business, HRT Building Solutions is now planning to move into premises in Northallerton and create a number of new jobs to add to their sub-contractors working on projects across the area.

Rob and Sarah-Louise named their company after their four-year-old grandson, Harlee Robert Talbot, who had to undergo life-saving heart surgery when he was just six months old due to a rare heart condition, which he is now recovering from. As a result, HRT Building Solutions supports CHUF at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.

Rob said: “Having worked in the building sector all of my life, I have been through recessionary periods when the industry almost collapsed and also experienced very busy periods. At the moment, we’re seeing a really buoyant market especially in the Harrogate, Ripon and Northallerton areas as homeowners look to improve their properties rather than sell.

“As a result, our first year in business has been far better than we expected and we’re now in a position to expand.”

Sarah-Louise said: “Our company is quite different to many others as we offer time-served builders with decades of experience who understand the importance of the combination of health and safety, reliability, efficiency and experience. Rob and has team provide the highest standards of craftsmanship and have had a fantastic year thanks to word-of-mouth recommendations.

“We’re now working with a variety of local business experts to grow our company, recruit some staff and find new premises.”

HRT Building Solutions is a member of the Federation of Small Businesses.
