EMG Solicitors raises £10,000 for brain injury charity

A LEADING North East solicitors is celebrating after raising £10,000 for brain injury charity, Headway, as part of an annual fundraising ball.

The annual WonderLAN Ball, run by Durham-based EMG Solicitors, recently took place for the third year, this time held in a specially-erected big top at Ramside Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa to raise money for Headway’s Look Ahead in the North project.

A sell-out crowd of 350 people attended the Moulin Rouge themed event to raise thousands for the charity, enjoying at the same time a night of circus performances, live music and a French-themed dinner.

EMG, based at Abbeywoods Business Park, is a long-time supporter of Headway and is currently the charity’s corporate baton holder, with a pledge to a year of fund raising activity.

Emma Gaudern, MD of EMG Solicitors - which manages trusts and deputyships for people with catastrophic brain injuries – works actively with Headway and is delighted that the event has once again raised money for the charity.

“Since launching in 2015, the WonderLAN Ball has continued to grow and has a great reputation in the North East for being a night full of surprises, with a different theme each year,” she said.

“Everyone has a great time and most importantly, it’s always a very successful evening, where we raise a lot of money for Headway through an auction, raffle, games and more.

“We are already very excited for next year’s theme and can’t wait to raise even more funds for such an important, worthy cause.”

Each year, the WonderLAN Ball is held to raise money to support the LAN (Look Ahead in the North) weekend, which brings together brain injury sufferers and their families for a residential programme of outdoor activities, therapies and workshops at The Calvert Trust at Kielder.

Alastair White of Headway in the North East said the money raised would allow even more people to enjoy the LAN weekend.

“The WonderLAN Ball has exceeded all expectations, not only does it raise funds to go towards the annual Look Ahead in the North event but it also raises the profile of brain injury and Headway,” he said.

“It is now in its third year and it keeps getting more spectacular every year.” For further information on EMG Solicitors, visit www.emgsolicitors.com
