Yorkshire Bank signs up to Northern Powerhouse Partners Programme

CYBG, the owner of Yorkshire Bank, has signed up to the Government’s Northern Powerhouse Partners Programme.

The Bank made the announcement at CityUK’s National Conference, taking place in Manchester on 28th November.

Through its Yorkshire Bank business, CYBG is committed to working with the Government and local stakeholders to realize the Northern Powerhouse initiative.

This will build on the Bank’s commitment to offer £6bn of new lending to the UK’s SMEs over three years.

David Duffy, CEO at CYBG, said: “Delivery of the Northern Powerhouse initiative is critical to unlocking the potential of the North of England’s economics and we’re delighted to be signing up to the Government’s Partners Programme.

“The North of England is a fantastic place to do business – and the business community has a crucial role in cultivating the wealth of skills and talent in the region, as well as encouraging sector expansion and innovation.

“There is so much potential for growth and we are pleased to play a prominent role in working towards the Northern Powerhouse’s goals and ambitions.

“Coordination and collaboration remains key – by working together with the Government and all the partners on the Northern Powerhouse Partners Programme, we can showcase what the North has to offer and that we are open for business.”

Jake Berry, Northern Powerhouse Minister, added: “I am delighted to welcome Yorkshire Bank, along with its parent company CYBG, to the Northern Powerhouse Partners Programme.

“A national household name in banking, Yorkshire Bank will be an invaluable partner in promoting the strengths of the North and celebrating the growth we’ve seen in its economy.

“The Government is working hand in hand with the region’s major players to create the right economic conditions in the Northern Powerhouse economy for businesses to thrive.

“The knowledge, expertise and know-how of businesses like Yorkshire Bank are greatly welcome and I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together for the Northern Powerhouse as part of this exciting partnership.”
