Bernicia invests in Predictive Analytics

Bernicia, a housing association based in the North East, has invested in Mobysoft’s RentSense, a predictive analytical solution.

Bernicia, who own and manage over 14,000 properties in Northumberland, County Durham and Tyne and Wearside, were concerned about the impact of welfare reform on their operations prompting them to review how RentSense could help their income team.

“There is increasing pressure on the ability to collect income due to welfare reform which in turn means rising costs. We have been able to mitigate much of these effects, but it’s apparent that we won’t be able to keep a lid on this indefinitely without increasing and re-directing resources,” explains Jeannie McMillan, Director of Housing Services at Bernicia.

Part of Bernicia’s strategy to mitigate welfare reform and embed efficiencies is to look to proven technological solutions within the sector, as Jeannie explains:

“The RentSense business case shows that capacity will be created within existing resources to manage and mitigate the pressures we are facing. However, for us it’s more than that this, it’s about cultural change in how we do things and how we use technology.”

Mobysoft worked closely with Bernicia in building a business case for RentSense, this was based around a day’s consultancy and research that analysed Bernicia’s processes and systems.

“It’s hugely beneficial from an organisation’s perspective to receive the consultancy from Mobysoft. It’s a health check on your current ways of working and helps highlight where as an organisation you can create efficiencies. If nothing else, it’s a piece of free consultancy that highlights how you can improve.” Concluded Jeannie.

“At Mobysoft we’re really looking forward to working with Bernicia and getting them go-live with RentSense in quarter one next year,” explained Paul Evans, Commercial Director at Mobysoft.
