Growing Liverpool travel business expands into Albert Dock

Work and travel provider Smaller Earth is rounding off the year with the launch of a new Liverpool HQ.

The company now occupies 7,500 sq ft on the fourth floor of the Atlantic Pavilion at Albert Dock, having consolidated its two city centre teams.

Smaller Earth is forecast to send a record 10,000 people on programs around the world in the 2017/18 year.

The last 12 months have seen the business grow its international team by 25, bringing its total workforce to 150.

Smaller Earth’s international office network also expanded with two new bases in Santiago, Chile and Vancouver, Canada, bringing its location count to 15.

In Liverpool the company employs a team of 50 who co-ordinate travel and work-abroad programs in Europe, the US, Canada, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

The company’s new Albert Dock premises are home to all three businesses forming the Smaller Earth brand; Smaller Earth Group, Smaller Earth UK and Cleversteam, a digital agency that builds all the company’s systems, websites and apps.

Bastian Weinberger, chief executive of Smaller Earth Group, said: “Having started our journey working out of a bedroom in Liverpool, back in 1999, we never would have believed beyond our wildest dreams that we would become based in one of the city’s most iconic buildings.

“It is a true testament to the business’s success and an amazing achievement to be able to bring all three companies under the Smaller Earth brand together in one office for the first time. It remains vital to us to have our head office in such a such a vibrant city.”

He continued: “It allows us to attract the best talent and for us, our staff are everything. Their commitment and passion is what drives this business.

“This year we have made significant investments to ensure every program is of the highest quality, so we can give our participants a once in lifetime experience they’ll never forget. For our 2017/18 season we expect to send over 10,000 people on work and travel programs around the world, which is our highest number yet.”
