Womble Bond Dickinson raises £4,800 for Southampton Hospital Charity

The Southampton office of transatlantic law firm Womble Bond Dickinson has raised £4,800 to support Southampton Hospital’s Children’s Emergency and Trauma Department Appeal.

Led by Southampton Hospital Charity, the Appeal aims to raise, by summer 2018, the two million pounds needed to build a brand-new dedicated and world-class Children’s Emergency and Trauma Department at Southampton Children’s Hospital. So far, over £1 million has already been raised.

The new department, which will replace the existing Children’s Accident and Emergency unit, will enable Southampton General Hospital to create a safe and specialised place for children where they can receive the very best care and attention.

Amy Hodge, Associate at law firm Womble Bond Dickinson, said: “We are humbled by the fantastic work Southampton General Hospital delivers in our community every day and are delighted to have raised such a tremendous amount in support of the new Children’s Emergency and Trauma Department. This will make a real difference to enhance the services the hospital provides for children and their families.”

Suzie Simmons, Head of Fundraising at Southampton Hospital Charity comments: “We are thrilled to accept this donation from Womble Bond Dickinson for our Children’s Emergency and Trauma Department Appeal. Their donation helped push us over our halfway mark, and has meant that we can officially start to build the new department. We could not have gotten to this point without people like Amy Hodge and Womble Bond Dickinson, so thank you.”

To support the fundraising appeal, Southampton Hospital Charity also launched the #CETD 100 Club, whereby 100 teams – comprising residents and businesses - challenge themselves to raise £10,000 each. Amy Hodge is part of Highfield Helps the Hospital team, which has already managed to raise around £11,000.
