Manchester law firm to create 12 jobs and become ‘major player’ in real estate

Law firm Mills & Reeve is set to double its Manchester-based real estate team over the next 18 months.

The head of real estate at the New York Street office has vowed to make at least 12 hires as part of his strategy to turn Mills & Reeve into a top-tier player in the region.

Mike Edge, who joined the company earlier this month from Pinsent Masons, said the first recruit is due to start in the coming weeks.

The jobs available will be at all levels, including partner.

Prior to his appointment, Mike led the Manchester real estate team at Pinsent Masons for seven years and grew its headcount from 15 to 50 people.

He was joined in the move to Mills & Reeve by partner Rachel Pitman.

Mike said: “We have an ambitious five-year plan for Manchester to which we are absolutely committed and we have hit the ground running. As well as concentrating on the delivery of excellent client service to existing clients we are pursuing new opportunities and we are confident of further wins very soon.”

He continued: “The team is currently 12 strong, including Mills & Reeve partner Caroline Hanratty, and together we plan to double the size over the next 18 months.

“This is the first stage of our expansion strategy that will see the team become a major player in the North West real estate sector and be recognised as a team which delivers excellent client service on time and within budget.”
