New Chief Executive at Broadacres

GAIL Teasdale is the new Chief Executive of Broadacres Housing Association.

The 49-year-old started work on 2nd January 2018 following a rigorous recruitment and selection process, which included being interviewed by Broadacres staff and residents.

Gail succeeds Steve Towers, who retired in 2017 after 24 years as Chief Executive. She has joined Broadacres from the Yorkshire-based national Housing Association, Accent, where she was Executive Director, Finance and Corporate Services.

Her arrival coincides with the appointment of new board members and, together, they will oversee the delivery of a new corporate strategy from 2018 to 2023 which will be focused on building 1,500 new affordable homes and the continual improvement of existing homes, services and communities.

Gail, who lives near Harrogate, said: “There are few things more important in life than feeling safe, secure and warm in your home.

“North Yorkshire has high rents and house prices. This is why providing affordable homes to rent and buy, through shared ownership, will continue to be one of our main priorities.

“Alongside this, we need to tackle other issues that impact particularly on people living in rural areas, such as digital inclusion and fuel poverty.

“Whilst doing all this we will continue to strive to deliver excellent, value for money services to our customers, without ever losing the personal touch that Broadacres is renowned for.

“There is much to do, but I am delighted to have joined Broadacres and am looking forward to working with our Board, staff, customers and stakeholders to deliver our strategy.”

Broadacres’ Chairman Colin Wilkie said: Gail’s skills and experience in the social housing sector, along with her local background and understanding of the challenges of developing affordable rural housing makes her an outstanding choice. We are delighted to have her onboard.“
