Harworth secures first land sale at Riverdale Park development in Doncaster

Harworth Group plc, the brownfield regeneration and property investment firm, has completed the first land sale at its 112-acre Riverdale Park development in Doncaster.

Family-run car dealer Arnold Clark Group has acquired Parcel C1, which is a plot totalling approximately six acres.

Arnold Clark Group now intends to build a 30,000 sq. ft car showroom and aims to begin construction in spring 2018.

The deal marks the first sale of land at Riverdale Park following its purchase by Harworth in late 2015 for £8.5m.

The wider 112-acre site is situated less than a mile from Doncaster town centre and benefits from an outline planning consent for 600 new homes and 200,000 sq. ft of commercial space designated for a variety of uses including retail, a care home and a retirement village.

2018 will see Harworth prepare additional development parcels for freehold sale for further retail uses and for the first phase of residential development on 15-acre of land adjacent to the principal road that links the site with Doncaster town centre.

Duncan Armstrong-Payne, associate director of major projects at Harworth Group plc, said: “Bringing a prestigious name like Arnold Clark to the Riverdale Park development is excellent news for Harworth and proves that our confidence in buying the site in 2015 was well placed.

“Our deal with Arnold Clark will also provide the impetus for further deals at the site over the next twelve months.”

Peter Henry, development director at Harworth Group plc, added: “Areas like Doncaster remain extremely important to the business in providing good value land for residential and commercial uses to support our future sales pipeline.

“Our specialist development team will continue to use its significant experience in developing large-scale brownfield sites to bring new homes and employment space to Yorkshire and the other regions in the north of England and the Midlands we operate in.”
