Negative Reviews from Former Employees Are Now Against Google Guidelines

Many people before approaching a company to acquire services they want to know about the organization’s status in the market and the work delivery approach. So to get clarity on such details the Google my business is the best tool to follow.

Google My Business is the tool behind the rating that appears on-screen when people carry out a search for a business, such as a pub or a restaurant, using the search engine or its maps functions.

Based on the rating given in the Google business the clients approach the company and get their job done. But now Google has updated its Google My business guidelines.

Google has taken a drastic step towards the Local SEO services review guidelines. Google released a statement updating the guidelines of the Google my business stating that posting negative reviews about a current or former employer is considered a conflict of interest. That means now former employees cannot post a negative review about their former workplace as it disrupts the organization’s image in the market and diminish the percentage of acquiring the clients.

This seems to be a legitimate decision taken by the Google whereas some tics call this decision as a biased one. Lets see the bright side and the dark side of this decision taken by the Google.

How is the new policy affecting the Business?

Banning the negative review of the former employee about the organization or its employees is considered as the best step because if a former employee accuses the organization’s employees with fraud or some gruesome details then it might affect the reputation of the organization. In the present world, 10 good reviews are equal to 1 bad review. Many organizations see this updated policy of the Google as right step because now with the ban of the negative review by the former employee, there will be no bad mouthing about the company anymore. For instance, an employee has been fired from the company because of negligence at work then that former employee seeks revenge against the company by giving a negative review about the organization.

What’s skeptic’s view about the policy?

Now let’s see what the skeptic’s view about this ban of the negative review of the former member of the organization. Some people believe that the policy taken by Google regarding the update of Google my business is making the organizations to cover up their faults. For example, consider an organizations head mistreated an employee and fired though it’s not employees fault then the former employees express their views about the organization’s behavior towards them. Hoping that people know what is actually happening in the organization.

But with the rise of the new policy, this is all going to end. Now a former employee cannot project their views about the organizations. The former employees are losing their right to express freedom. This makes the organizations to cover up their tracks and faults going inside the company. So any illegal activities or fraud is done by the organization if expressed by the former employee of that organization then Google is going to ban them even though they are true.

So the decision taken by the Google is biased and favored to the business. These are some question asked by the former employees. To this question, the Google stated that the current employee cannot write a review about the company whether they are of positive or negative reviews. This makes the organization not to hype their own business internally by making the current working employees give a positive review of the company.

Full stop to the fraud companies:

For example, a company wants to improve its business services on the Online platform so they come up with a business strategy where they hype about the company by giving positive reviews to their own company. This is like a false advertisement to make the company attract the customers. So to put a stop to this kind of illegal activities google is also banning the current employee reviews on the Google business platform. This policy is also creating a conflict among the organizations on how to keep up the ratings of their company if the google bans the reviews of its employees. Although few agree to this policy also. The bottom line is reviews of employers are not allowed, whether the person currently works there or not. Those wanting to leave reviews of their employer, negative or positive, on sites like glass doors are put to an end now.

No More Bad mouthing about organizations:

So now the former employees cannot share their views on the google my business but on other sites which makes the organizations immune to the bad reputation. Also the former employees can share their views on a separate platform. People should understand that the key to understanding the guidelines is through time and experience. Seeing what Google will and will not act on can provide insight into what things they really care about, and this can help people to read between the lines. The Google policy clearly states that “Conflict of interest: Reviews are most valuable when they are honest and unbiased. If you own or work at a place, please don’t review your own business or employer.”

Let the time decide the effects of policy:

This is considered as a golden rule at the heart of Google’s guidelines, which is why the company usually removes peer reviews or reviews of the organization got by the employees working in that organization or the employee friend’s writing up the review.

For example, if someone leaves an organization a negative review because the company never called them back, that would still be considered a legitimate review because they intended to hire you and you exhibited poor customer service. But still, it is considered as negative review so the google is going to ban such reviews. This new policy can bring a drastic change in the market. In one way it is solving the problem of the bad reputation of the organization at the same time it is opening doors for another conflict of biased.
