Gaming group nabs £2.96m HSBC funding for international expansion

Digital gaming business Catalis Group has secured a new £2.96m funding package with HSBC.

The Netherlands-headquartered company will use the cash to focus on growing its UK-based Testronic Laboratories and Curve Digital Publishing divisions.

The seven-figure boost will also allow Catalis to reach new international markets with an expansion of its services into Thailand.

Testronic Laboratories, which has offices in London, Poland and the US, provides quality assurance and localisation services for the game, film and TV industries. Curve Digital Publishing is a London-based game publisher.

Dominic Wheatley, chief exec of Catalis Group, said: “Continuing our international expansion, including into the Asian market, is an exciting next step for Catalis Group – something that wouldn’t have been possible without the help and support from HSBC’s funding and the bank’s international reach.

“Having the facilities available to free-up capital in the UK, US and Poland enabled us to focus our resources on expanding both our divisions, which has allowed us to enter new markets with a well-rounded and streamlined package.”

He added: “Offering both quality assurance services and publishing is something we think is key to our future growth.”

HSBC’s area director for West London, Richard Gimblett, commented: “We’ve worked with Catalis Group for over 20 years and have been hugely impressed with its rapid growth and strategic acquisitions.

“Following the group’s acquisition of Curve Digital Publishing and through our international network, Catalis has now been able to expand further internationally including moves into Thailand, an important strategic gateway into the Asian market. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this exciting company.”
