Forshaw lands greenlight for £35m resi scheme in Salford
Developer Forshaw Land and Property Group is about to start work on a 180-home residential scheme in Salford.
The Bolton-based company received the go-ahead from Salford City Council to deliver the £35m building on Derwent Street, next to the River Irwell.
Located between the Lowry Wharf development and the casino fronting onto Regent Road, the scheme will comprise a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.
It will also house a gym, community room and commercial unit.
The development is designed by architects DLA Design and will rise to 11, 14 and 21 storeys.
National planning and development consultancy Lichfields submitted plans for the scheme last summer.
Lichfields has estimated that the project will support more than 230 jobs during its 18-month construction phase. Upon completion, it is forecast to boost the local economy by £2.3m a year in terms of resident spending and support around 25 new jobs.

Nathan Matta, planning director at Lichfields’ Manchester office, said: “This site had until recently benefited from outline planning permission for an eight-storey building.
“However, Forshaw decided not to pursue this as it would have resulted in an entirely underwhelming response to the site and one which does not respond to key planning policy.”
He added: “Instead, we consider that the scheme will be seen as a landmark development and one which will positively compliment the development currently taking place along the Riverside corridor.”
Earlier this year, Lichfields submitted plans for Forshaw’s proposed £45m tower scheme at Clippers Quay.
