Sheffield Business is an Industry Leader

A waste management company has seen its Sheffield site receive national recognition for its commitment to the environment and recycling.

Independent waste management group, CSG, acquired the former Frogson Waste Management site in central Sheffield, in 2016, and rebranded to CSG in January this year.

Since obtaining the site, CSG has worked hard to achieve the best possible standards for its 20 local members of staff, the business and the environment.

After being examined and verified, the site has gained its IS09001:2015 and ISO14001:2015 certifications which, along with its OHSAS18001 certification makes it one of the leading sites in the waste management industry.

Antony Gerken, permitting and compliance manager for CSG Sheffield, said: “These certifications mean that as a business we have successfully shown that we are committed to ensuring that we are compliant with all required legislation, protecting our workers and the environment.

“Last year alone, our site took in 12,500 tonnes of waste, from hazardous and oil waste, to packaging that can be washed and then recycled.

“Although the certification is not a mandatory requirement, we want to provide our customers with the reassurance that we are doing everything we possibly can to protect the environment – and we recycle as much as possible. It is a great achievement for the site.”

Neil Richards, CSG managing director, said: “This year we were delighted to rebrand Frogson’s one-acre site in to CSG.

“I am very proud of what the Sheffield team has achieved, and it is a further development in the group’s expansion plans, increasing markets, service diversity and geographical presence.”

The CSG group already owns brands such as industrial cleaning experts Willacy Oil Services, print waste management specialists J & G Environmental and Oil Monster.

CSG was founded as a one-man sewage collection business in rural Hampshire more than 80 years ago and now employs a national workforce of nearly 500 people.

The company operates more than 27 facilities across the UK, with a team of drivers, operatives and specialist consultants working together on the goal of diverting waste from landfill, recovering and recycling as much as possible.
