Sue Ryder announces All Terrain Cycles’ sponsorship for summer sportives in aid of local hospice

Yorkshire cycling retailer All Terrain Cycles, which has superstores in Saltaire and Wetherby, is once again supporting a series of cycle events which are being organised by Manorlands’ cycle events group to raise funds for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

All Terrain has sponsored the mountain bike challenges and sportives for the last six years, and will once again play its part in helping to raise vital funds for Manorlands. The cycle retailer will again offer a mystery bike-related prize for the winner of a free draw for all entrants who have raised more than £50 in sponsorship, as well as making a donation for each rider from the All Terrain race team who takes part in the events.

The sponsorship announcement coincides with the launch of the first event, the Three Dales Mountain Bike Challenge. Taking place on 17th June, it will start from Threshfield near Grassington, and offer a choice of three routes ranging from 12.7 miles to 38.9 miles.

This will be followed by the popular Bronte Sportive which will be held on 15th July. Setting off from Leeds City College in Keighley, there will be four routes for all abilities from 54.5 miles to 88 miles. Finally, the Bronte Mountain Bike Challenge will take place on 16th September from Oxenhope Community Centre near Haworth. Again, there will be a choice of four routes from 15 miles to 35.1 miles.

The events have built up a loyal following, attracting hundreds of cyclists every year with all proceeds, including entrance fees and sponsorship, being used to fund Sue Ryder’s care for people living with incurable illness in West Yorkshire. Last year, the three cycling events together raised £24,000 for the Manorlands Hospice.

“It’s great to have All Terrain Cycles on board once again - the incentive of a prize draw to win cycling goodies definitely helps to focus entrants’ fund raising efforts,” says Andrew Wood of Sue Ryder. “We’re hoping that this support will help us to raise even more for the hospice than last year.”

Tony Booth, managing director of All Terrain Cycles, says: “We’re always pleased to be associated with Sue Ryder and we’re looking forward to this summer’s events being bigger and better than ever, giving enthusiasts the chance to enjoy some of Yorkshire’s finest cycle routes as well as supporting a fantastic local charity.”
