Macclesfield College Tops DfE League Table
Macclesfield College is celebrating once again after securing the highest achievement rates for apprenticeships across both Cheshire and Greater Manchester following the latest Department for Education (DfE) league tables.
The DfE National Achievement Rate Tables were compiled using UK-wide statistics from apprenticeship completions in 2016/17. The figures measure the percentage of students enrolled at each college that achieve their targeted qualification within the agreed time frame and Macclesfield came out on top across both Cheshire and Greater Manchester, with an on time completion rate of 71 per cent across all disciplines.
The league table not only puts Macclesfield College above the apprenticeship achievement rates of any other college in Cheshire or Manchester, beating the success rates of 14 other colleges, but also puts the college 3.3 per cent above the national average for all levels recorded by the DfE during the 2016/17 academic year.
The college also came top in Cheshire for students of all ages studying courses at Level 3, which makes up the bulk of the curriculum delivery and according to recently published DfE performance tables, Macclesfield College students on average achieve a ‘distinction’ grade.
They are also top in Cheshire for 16-18 year olds studying Level 1 courses. The College is looking to grow its Level 1 provision and is adding animal care, health and social care, childcare and creative media and arts courses to its Level 1 offer.
Rachel Kay, chief executive and principal of Macclesfield College commented: “Our employer engagement department, Maxim Business Training, has performed to an outstanding level with employers and learners alike and the results speak for themselves.”
The league tables were released following the college’s recent Ofsted Inspection where the Apprenticeship team once again were rated ‘Good: Grade 2’.
Tracy Cosgrave, director of employer and commercial services, commented: “We are delighted to see the hard work and dedication of the team pay off. Our Maxim Business Training team have gone from strength to strength over the past two years and our dedication to delivering high quality apprenticeship programmes is making a real impact.”
