Gordon Brown Law Firm expands its commercial team with new appointment

Gateshead solicitor, John Morgan has taken the reins of the corporate and commercial team at Gordon Brown Law Firm LLP (GBLF) as the firm continues to strengthen its service offering.

John, 40, has joined GBLF as partner and head of commercial, bringing with him a wealth of legal experience.

He said: “As a partner at GBLF, I will oversee the growing commercial team whilst strengthening its presence in the region’s legal arena, increasing the firm’s commercial property reach.

“This role will bring with it new challenges and opportunities, and I look forward to reconnecting with the local market from a fresh perspective with a new firm.

“GBLF has a fantastic reputation, combining professional service from expert lawyers with a grounded, real approach; I am thrilled to become part of this team and to adopt its ethos in my professional work.”

Having previously held the position of managing associate at Womble Bond Dickinson LLP, John specialised in commercial real estate, supervising a dedicated property pensions team and working closely with the firm’s restructuring and insolvency department and property law team.

Prior to this, he qualified as a solicitor at Muckle LLP after completing his academic qualifications at Northumbria University.

His new role will see him head up the commercial department at GBLF, working closely with the team, to provide support and guidance to SMEs and large companies whilst assisting with complex transactions surrounding commercial property.

Kathryn Taylor, managing partner at GBLF, added: “As we focus on strategic growth and development for the business over the coming year, it’s imperative that we get the right team in place, and strengthening our commercial department is a key step in this.

“John is an excellent addition to the firm, and I know that he will lead the corporate and commercial team well, enabling the department to continue its success in providing bespoke and expert legal advice to the region’s businesses.”

John, who lives in Low Fell in Gateshead with his wife and two children, is a keen cyclist and a Boys Brigade leader, having been appointed as an officer in November 2017.
