Carillion: New work for employees brings jobs saved to 11,450
Hundreds more former employees of collapsed construction giant Carillion have found jobs, bringing the total number who have secured ongoing employment to 11,450.
The government confirmed on Monday (April 30) that a further 357 Carillion workers have now transferred to new suppliers.
A spokesperson for the official receiver said that another 36 employees lost their jobs and will leave the company this week.
The statement read: “Jobcentre Plus’ Rapid Response Service will provide them with every support to find new work.
“I continue to talk with potential purchasers for Carillion’s remaining contracts and will keep staff, elected employee representatives and unions to keep them informed as these arrangements are confirmed.”
Since Carillion fell into liquidation earlier this year, 2,257 jobs have been lost.
Around 3,300 employees are still at Carillion as the firm rounds off its work for public and private sector customers.
According to the official receiver, their posts will remain until decisions are taken to either transfer or cease these contracts.
