Finalists chosen for next Merthyr Community Fund giveaway

St Tydfil Shopping Centre is delighted to announce the groups chosen as finalists for its next St Tydfil Cares Community Fund giveaway and is encouraging the local community to vote for who they would like to receive a £200 voucher for Edwards Coaches.

Edwardsville Primary School in Treharris would use the vouchers to enable students between the ages of 3 and 11, who have varying disabilities, the chance to enjoy a school trip. The number of helpers required to support the students means trips can be quite expensive so they often miss out.

Park Second Youth Group is a voluntary organisation supporting local people over the age of 55, some of whom have sight problems and have difficulty walking. If they are voted to receive the vouchers, the group would organise a trip to help reduce isolation.

Tenovus Cancer Care’s Sing With Us Choir is for anyone who is affected by cancer and helps to unite people, lift spirits, and improve well-being. The choir would use the Edwards Coaches vouchers to help cover the cost of transport to and from performances.

Julie Calderbank, Operations Manager at St Tydfil Shopping Centre, commented: “Our first Community Fund vote was extremely popular and saw us receive just under 550 votes. We’re certain this vote will be as equally well received and we’re encouraging the local community to get involved and support the group they would like to win.”

Votes can be cast by visiting St Tydfil Shopping Centre’s Facebook page and liking the post at the top of the page by choosing a Facebook reaction, or by emailing StTydfil@pmwcom.co.uk and putting the name of the group being voted for in the subject line.

The vote will take place between 9am on Monday 14th May and midnight on Sunday 27th May. Votes cast outside these dates will not be counted and only one vote per person via each method of voting will be counted.

The winner of the £200 Edwards Coaches voucher will be the group that receives the most votes.

Throughout the year, future call outs and votes will take place inviting clubs that support children through the school summer holidays to apply for vouchers from The Works, and schools and nurseries to apply for Wilko vouchers.
