Plans now submitted for new Harrogate residential scheme at former Lancashire Fitting Works
Plans have been unveiled for the redevelopment of the former Lancashire Fittings Works at Back Devonshire Place, Harrogate.
Property developer Newby submitted the planning application to Harrogate Borough Council.
The planning submission follows Newby’s acquisition of the site which currently comprises a number of vacant commercial and residential units.
The developer is seeking to transform the site into a new residential scheme comprising a mix of converted and new build units, to create a total of 13 two-bedroom and 1 three-bedroom apartments and cottages.
Part conversion and part new build, each new home will have its own private parking.
The site, situated near to Harrogate’s town centre, comprises a courtyard facing onto Devonshire Lane and currently contains several existing commercial and residential buildings with two accesses from Claro Road.
Back Devonshire Place will have immediate access to Claro Road which leads north from the A59 Skipton Road and also provides further connections to a small closed network of streets which serve a mix of residential, employment, education and leisure uses.
Nick Moody, director at Newby, said: “We are pleased to have submitted the planning for Back Devonshire Place having taken significant care and consideration to repurpose the former Lancashire Fitting Works buildings, which are an important and valuable part of Harrogate’s heritage.
“The regeneration of the former Works, alongside the new dwellings that will be built, aim to create a scheme of the highest quality to help meet housing requirements in the area, whilst also giving future owners of these homes excellent transport links throughout Harrogate and beyond.”
