Liverpool FC to net around €85m for UEFA Champions League run
Liverpool Football Club is set to receive between €80m and €85m from UEFA for the team’s progression to the 2018 Champions League final, according to data from business advisory firm Deloitte.
The Premiership club will face Real Madrid in the final of Europe’s biggest competition on Saturday 26th May.
The club that wins the match will receive €15.5m from UEFA, whilst the runner-up will receive €11m.
The €80m figure that Liverpool FC will accumulate from UEFA is awarded for the participation in all rounds of the competition, from the qualifying rounds to the final.
Deloitte’s annual Football Money League, which calculates the revenue of the world’s richest football clubs, revealed that Liverpool FC achieved a revenue of £346.5m in 2016/17.
This places the club as the ninth-highest revenue generating club in the world, and the fifth-highest in England.
Sean Beech, partner for Deloitte in Liverpool, said: “The team’s performance in the Champions League will drive revenue growth for Liverpool FC and should see them climb the Football Money League rankings in the coming year.
“The club’s European success will not only boost its revenue; it will also have a huge economic impact on the Liverpool City Region.
“With the world watching Saturday night’s game, Liverpool will enhance its status as a globally recognised city which should bring wider benefits such as increased inward investment and tourism.”
