Two long-term tenants agree to extend leases on the Round Foundry estate
Two of the longest-term commercial tenants on the Round Foundry estate in Holbeck have renewed their leases.
Barristers Chambers Kings Bench Walk (KBW) and regional tourism agency, Welcome to Yorkshire, have committed to the estate for years to come.
Following 10 years in The Engine House, the Barristers Chambers has signed a new five-year lease with agents Creative Space Management on the 3,471 sq. ft office which is located at No 1 Foundry Square.
Established in 1954 on the street of the same name in Temple, London, KBW opened a satellite office in Park Square, Leeds in 1982 which expanded in 2004 when the whole administration team moved from London to Leeds.
When Welcome to Yorkshire was founded in 2009, Sir Gary Verity chose 5,375 sq. ft of office space in the listed building Dry Sand Foundry for the new headquarters.
The tourism body has now committed to a new 10-year lease at the Foundry Square headquarters.
Creative Space Management agreed the lease, which is the joint agent on the scheme with Knight Frank.
Peter Dodd, commercial director from Welcome to Yorkshire, commented: “We feel very fortunate to be here, it’s a dynamic area with lots of other ambitious and creative companies on the doorstep creating a vibrant community.
“We have visitors from all over the world and everybody who walks into the building just goes ‘wow’ which is fantastic for us to hear and so there was no real question of us wanting to move anywhere else.”
Paul Taylor of Creative Space Management, added: “This was one of the first areas in Leeds to be developed for creative and digital businesses, by repurposing Listed mill buildings for the needs of today’s workplace.
“The Round Foundry and Marshalls Mill complex consistently has been a sought-after location for start-ups and companies keen to be at the heart of an entrepreneurial community, alongside like-minded businesses and a network of independent food and drink retailers.”
