Awards keep rolling in for Tyne Bank Brewery!

The brewery, on Walker Road in Newcastle, has been awarded Gold in the North East SIBA Independent Beer Awards, as well as coming up trumps at the CAMRA Newcastle Beer and Cider Festival.

Tyne Bank Brewery, an independent brewery and tap room, are celebrating after scooping the top prize in not one, but two, prestigious awards. The brewery’s 3.9% light pale ale, Summer Breeze, won Gold in the North East SIBA Independent Beer Awards, in the Keg Speciality Light Beers category.

On top of this, Tyne Bank Brewery’s newest recruit, Alan Dunlop, won big at this year’s Newcastle CAMRA beer festival, with his debut 10% Imperial Chocolate Milkshake, Stalin’s Cow. Stalin’s Cow was announced as winner of the Canniest Beer Award, which is the people’s choice award, at the 42nd Newcastle Beer and Cider Festival.

Julia Austin, founder & owner of Tyne Bank Brewery, said:

“Winning two prestigious awards is a great achievement for the brewery, and a testament to the quality of the beers that we’re brewing! After all, it’s what’s inside that counts.”

Alan Dunlop, head brewer at Tyne Bank Brewery, said:

“I was lost for words when I found out about the Canniest Beer Award for Stalin’s Cow; I wasn’t expecting it at all! I’m really pleased, and proud, because the Canniest Beer Award is one that is voted for by the public.”

Dunlop continues:

“It’s an exciting time for Tyne Bank; there are a lot of positive changes happening, and we’re all moving forward as a team.”

As if this wasn’t news enough, Tyne Bank Brewery’s contract for its flagship American Pale Ale, Silver Dollar, has been extended for another year, meaning Silver Dollar will be available to purchase in 18 of the North East’s Mitchells and Butlers outlets – including Miller & Carter in Newcastle and Sunderland. Just don’t forget to ask for it!

Julia Austin said:

“Mitchells and Butlers is a fantastic business to be associated with, and we’re really pleased that sales are going strong, and that they’re looking to build a relationship with a local brewery!”
