French freelancing platform raises over £2.5m for UK expansion
European freelancer network crème de la crème has secured millions in funding to expand in the UK.
The company, founded in Paris, raised €3m (c.£2.64m) in a round led by French investment firm Alto Invest and a number of existing backers, including entrepreneurs Loic Le Meur and Alain Thibaut.
crème de la crème will use the seven-figure boost to accelerate growth in the UK, where it already operates from an office in London.
The company has created a product connecting businesses with a community of freelancers who work in tech, data, design, marketing and communications.
The startup is now helping over 5,000 businesses through its platform, including more than 500 in the UK.
Jean-Charles Varlet, chief exec of crème de la crème, said: “The freelancers from our community are independent but rarely work alone. More and more of them would rather work in a team on more ambitious projects.
“We think that the UK is filled with talented freelancers, yet managers still use their personal network in order to find freelancers.”
He added: “We’ve decided to help scale that process and use a unique product to gather all of their freelancers together.”
