New technical director appointed by regional housebuilder

A West Midlands housebuilder has appointed a new technical director who brings with him a wealth of experience within the industry.

Chris Connolly has joined Persimmon Homes West Midlands and is based at its Wolverhampton headquarters. The 33-year-old, who is born and bred in the city, says he is looking forward to a busy year with plenty of new developments in the pipeline.

Connolly had spent 14 years with Taylor Wimpey, after joining as a management trainee and gaining an HNC in Civil Engineering. He has risen through the ranks and headed up the engineering and planning team, within the technical department, for the past 18 months,

He said: “I was not particularly looking for a change, but I was asked to come in and meet the team and I was impressed. It is a good company and I made the decision that it was the right time for me to move.

“I have had 14 years in the industry and I will use that experience to drive the team, produce good design and deliver on time. We are a service department, almost the engine of the company, providing information to customer care and the construction department. I care about what we deliver and will make sure we provide a great service to help the company continue to sell houses.

“It is a fairly young team here, so I am keen to nurture it and help people grow their skillset to become fully rounded within the technical department. We have a busy year ahead, with developments in the pipeline for Norton Canes, Lawley Telford, Newport and Shrewsbury, while work is now under way in Stone, so I am looking forward to working on these great projects.”

Stephen Cleveley, director-in-charge at Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: “There is a huge demand for housing within this region and we are extremely busy meeting that need, so to attract someone as talented as Chris is a real boon for the business. He brings a wealth of experience with him and I believe the technical department can only go from strength to strength.”

Persimmon Homes West Midlands is currently building in Wolverhampton, Bilston, Ellesmere, Hednesford, Shrewsbury, Dudley, Lawley Telford, Penkridge and Stone.
