Bristol lawyers recognised in Legal 500's Hall of Fame

Three Bristol-based partners from law firm Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) have been featured in The Legal 500 Hall of Fame, a guide which recognises individuals who have received constant praise by their clients for continued excellence.

The Hall of Fame highlights, to clients, the law firm partners who are at the pinnacle of the profession. In the United Kingdom, the criteria for entry is to have been recognised by The Legal 500, a leading guide to the legal profession, as one of the elite leading lawyers for eight years.

Overall, thirteen partners from across WBD’s UK offices were listed in the Hall of Fame. The Bristol partners commended this year include:

Julian Kinsey, a banking and finance partner with expertise in acquisition and real estate finance, security and inter-creditor issues, restructuring and refinance work. He leads the firm’s banking and financial services team and is also the office head for Bristol.

Jon Cooper, a regulatory partner who heads up WBD’s health and safety practice. His expertise extends throughout the UK and he regularly appears before Courts and Tribunals all over the country. Jon has been involved in many of the leading health, safety and environmental cases in the last two decades, including the Buncefield Oil Terminal explosion which remains the largest ever health and safety/environmental investigation and prosecution.

Simon Hewes, a corporate partner with a primary focus on M&A and private equity transactions. Simon has acted on a number of transactions in the region, including private equity investments in high growth businesses such as Bottlegreen, Loungers and Turtle Bay, and also on many national and international transactions, particularly in the energy and oil and gas sectors (most recently the sale of Countrywide Farmer’s LPG distribution business to Flogas).

Jonathan Blair, Managing Partner at WBD, commented: “We’re delighted to have our partners recognised in The Legal 500 Hall of Fame. They have all been singled out based on consistent outstanding client feedback, which is a tribute to the legal expertise and high quality advice we provide to our clients across the UK and in our regions.”

Ranking in the UK’s top 20 law firms, WBD provides legal expertise in eleven key sectors from across eight offices in the UK and 18 offices in the US. It is one of the largest law firms in Bristol where it employs more than 230 staff.
