A CUT ABOVE THE REST: THE CITY OF LIVERPOOL COLLEGE STUDENTS BEAT NATIONAL AVERAGE

Students from The City of Liverpool College have once again achieved outstanding A-level results across the board, with a pass rate of 99.6 per cent, beating the national average of 97.6 per cent.

This year’s results follow a year-on-year improvement for the college, up from a pass rate of 97.9 per cent in 2017 and 97.1 per cent in 2016. The City of Liverpool College saw impressive results with 17 out of its 18 subjects achieving a 100% pass rate in its STEM subjects including Maths, Further Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. In addition to this the college also achieved 100% pass rate in Modern Languages.

Elaine Bowker, principal of The City of Liverpool College, said:

“We’re so proud of this year’s A-Level students for working incredibly hard and achieving the results that they deserve. As a college, we are seeing a year-on-year improvement in our pass rates and beating the national average is no mean feat, so is something we’re extremely proud of.

“The talent that exists in Liverpool City Region never fails to astound me and the results that these students have achieved is testament to that as well as the outstanding teaching quality that we pride ourselves on at The City of Liverpool College.

“As the largest college in the city, we are determined to play our part in providing a vibrant learning environment, to allow us to nurture and develop the skills that this fantastic city needs to continue to grow and be internationally competitive.

“Connecting businesses with the talent that comes through our doors is one of our top priorities and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for our students – it is bound to be bright.”

Hundreds of 16-18 year olds received their results at the college, which runs A-Level courses for both school leavers and adult learners.

This year’s A-Level results success follows on from The City of Liverpool College being the first in the world to launch a course in the business of Esport earlier this year. The ground-breaking course has been designed to help people build a career in the fast-growing industry, for which revenues are set to exceed £20 billion by 2020.

In addition, The City of Liverpool College has been rated as ‘Good’ by OFSTED and was recently awarded the gold standard of Higher Education in the first Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) league table.
