Advisory firm Quantuma saves 42 jobs at Clerkenwell app company
Business advisory firm Quantuma has helped save dozens of jobs with the rescue of digital consultancy Chelsea Apps Factory.
Clerkenwell-based Chelsea Apps Factory, which designs and delivers mobile apps for businesses, was sold to CA Factory Ltd in a pre-pack deal that secured the jobs of 42 staff.
Quantuma said the agreement has also preserved the value of the £6.6m-turnover business and its in-house intellectual property.
Chelsea Apps Factory, founded in 2010, has worked on projects for regional and national clients.
The firm previously built an app for Transport for London that provides an overview of incidents in real time, and an employee app for supermarket chain Waitrose that gives wine specialists a tool for tasting notes and food pairings.
It has also developed mobile products for betting firm Ladbrokes.
Andrew Hosking and Simon Bonney, partners at Quantuma, were the appointed joint administrators for Chelsea AppsFactory Ltd.
Andrew said: “Tech is a highly competitive industry, and businesses rich in intellectual property can be subject to complex financial headwinds.
“This deal allows Chelsea Apps Factory to continue its operations, crucially safeguarding 42 roles, and minimising disruption to ongoing clients.”
Simon commented: “Our involvement from an early stage allowed us to enter negotiations quickly, and we are very pleased to help save more than 40 jobs in this hi-tech industry – a significant result and a positive outcome for the business.”
