Diversity Travel growth continues with £10.7m new business win

Specialist travel management company Diversity Travel has announced an increase in sales of 10 per cent over the last year, with revenues reaching £69.4m, up from £63.2m in 2017.

The growth has been fuelled by Diversity Travel’s continued expansion both in the UK and internationally, with clients across Europe, Africa and North America. New business wins alone brought in £10.7m in revenue over the last twelve months, with significant contracts including Nottingham Trent University, University of Aberdeen, Civicus and Southampton Solent University.

The business has also appointed charity travel expert Steve Summers as sales and marketing director, where he will lead Diversity Travel’s partnership plan and focus on its award-winning service, in-house technology and passion for charities to drive business development. Steve is highly experienced and respected in the sector, having held senior positions at a number of charity travel specialist agencies.
Diversity Travel specialises in UK and international air travel, accommodation, and rail travel for the charity, academic and not-for-profit sectors. The wins add to Diversity Travel’s 2,000 clients including the London School of Economics, The Salvation Army, ActionAid, Wellcome Trust and Save the Children International.

This year, the business released its DTravel app for iOS and Android to support its key Duty of Care offering, providing clients with fast, reliable updates and information on all of their business travel requirements. The app’s functionality is augmented with Diversity Travel’s 24/7 Crisis Team, and risk assessment integration backed up by comprehensive country and visa information, and emergency updates.

Christopher Airey, managing director of Diversity Travel, said: “This growth marks another year of strong progress for Diversity Travel as we realise our plans for development. We are hugely passionate about what we do and living by our values of creating a positive impact through all of our work, and it is particularly pleasing to see even more top-tier organisations recognise this. By partnering with us, they are assured unrivalled expertise, first class service and cutting-edge travel technology to support their travel needs.”

Steve Summers, sales and marketing director at Diversity Travel said: “This is a really exciting period for the business, and we have an enormous opportunity to take our excellent work delivered to-date to the next level and help travellers working in some of the most challenging destinations. We are a dynamic and ambitious business, and we are very enthusiastic about taking the steps to achieve our aim of becoming the global leader in the charity, academic and not-for-profit communities.”

Separately, the firm has announced it is launching a dedicated operation in the USA to further enhance its global service and bring the team nearer to their clients, having successfully supported US-based clients for a number of years. The US team will focus exclusively on the charity and international NGO sector, where Diversity Travel’s combination of expert agents, specialist fare content and online tools can offer a fresh service offering to the not-for-profit community.

Christopher added: “The launch of our US operation is a natural extension of the first class service we have provided clients in this region for years. A number of our UK clients want us to serve their US locations with a unified service operation provided by locally-based staff, while US organisations have approached us based on the strong reputation we have in the International NGO sector. Our 24/7 global service model means we are fully equipped to support both travel bookers and travellers in all locations, while offering non-profit organisations the benefits of a centralised specialist travel management programme.”
