A Mark of Success as UK’s Leading Plastic Manufacturer Creates Products for Britain’s Most Loved Bear

A Northamptonshire based manufacturing company has recently completed a large order of themed toast stamps with a fast turnaround in conjunction with the release of the popular Paddington Bear movie on DVD.

Plastic moulding and tooling company, Great Central Plastics, received a large order to produce promotional products to be released alongside the launch of the Paul King movie. The order consisted of 300,000 toast stamps that were completed within just under nine weeks. The unique toast stamps are designed to create an imprint into bread, leaving an image once the bread is toasted.

With the film seeing success at the box office, a vast number of products were required in a short timeframe for the DVD release. Strict brand guidelines had to be followed for the creation of the stamps due to the famous, highly copyrighted nature of the Paddington Bear character. Great Central Plastics also provided inspection and testing of the products to ensure each individual item adhered to the guidelines and was fully functional.

Speaking about the creation process for the product, Rowan Wilson, Sales Manager at Great Central Plastics said: “We always enjoy creating bespoke products for companies and the Paddington Bear project was no exception. We work closely with all of our clients and very much like to be involved from every aspect of the creation process right through to the finished product. Making unique products for companies, using intricate design tools - whilst very much adhering to strict guidelines - is how we have built a strong reputation to become one of the UK’s leading plastic manufacturers and suppliers of choice.”

The 300,000 toast stamps required were tooled, manufactured, tested and individually bagged in house at the company’s extensive facilities spanning an impressive 10,500 sq ft. The toast stamp was created in four separate colours including red, blue, green and yellow. There were also four design variations of the stamp to represent the iconic character - a marmalade jar, a Paddington name stamp, a suitcase and Paddington Bear.

Great Central Plastics has worked closely with an impressive number of high-profile clients such as McDonalds, Mercedes and has recently completed a large order of promotional items for ITV2s Love Island. Assisting clients from concept to creation, the British company has played a part in manufacturing products for brands on an international scale.

Speaking about the contract completion, Kiron Phillips, Sales and Marketing Executive at Great Central Plastics said: “We were thrilled to be given the opportunity to create a fun product for a much-loved children’s character. We are one of the only British plastic manufacturers who possess the equipment necessary to develop the intricate bespoke creation of the four design variations.”

Established in 1998, Great Central Plastics has established a reputation as one of the top British plastic tooling and moulding specialists with a string of successful high-profile projects, working with some of the biggest brands in the world.
